Paralegal, Tax & Corporate Governance Research & Training

Following a career of more than forty-five years in international business, Dr James Green is now available to undertake research and report writing on a freelance or interim basis.

Since qualifying as a tax attorney in the early 70's James has been an offshore trust administrator, broadcaster, book publisher (with offices in the UK, Ireland, Canada and the USA) and having sold his publishing business “to Americans with more money than sense” went on to establish an international fiduciary and corporate service business in the late 1980's with offices in London, Geneva, the Isle of Man, Luxembourg, Dublin and Amsterdam.

Over several decades he has also been a non-executive director of several listed and unlisted companies in the UK and Europe and, although his experience is clearly very much broader, he is widely known and respected as an advisor to UK and international clients on corporate governance, the structuring or restructuring of businesses in a tax efficient manner, and in dealing with issues such as financing, transfer pricing, VAT, and profit repatriation.

James achieved Chartered Director status in 2006. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management, a Member of the International Tax Planning Association, a member of the International Fiscal Association, and an Associate of the Institute of Financial Accountants. He has a Bachelor’s degree in European Literature, a joint Doctorate in Literature and Philosophy, and a postgraduate Certificate in Marketing from Cornell University Business School.

Having completed a law conversion course several years ago James recently commenced a Law Masters (LLM) degree in International Corporate Governance and International Commercial Law.

James
has written, edited or translated over 60 books on subjects ranging from taxation, to marketing, management, corporate governance, and politics - as well as occasional forays into poetry and biography. He is a regular contributor to a number of online and print journals dealing in business and politics, and provides several legal and accountancy practices with articles for their websites and newsletters.

He also has been, and still is, an advisor to many international bodies including the European Commission; the World Bank; the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation; the Institute of Directors; the British Chambers of Commerce, the Conservative Party; the Green Party (Scotland) and the Pacific Association of Tax Administrators.
